Job Class : Non-Exempt / Reports To : Director of Rooms

POSITION SUMMARY : The Public Areas Attendant is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness of the public washrooms, corridors, lobby, locker rooms, and hotel offices.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES : NOTE : the requirements of this job description may change at any time. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

These include, but are not limited to, the following :

• Maintains supply levels in the public areas, i.e. toilet paper, hand soap, paper towels, and Kleenex.
• Maintains and cleans all public washrooms, checking according to the checklist twice each hour.
• Makes routine checks of all public areas to ensure cleanliness.
• Dusts all tables, lamps, and ledges in all public areas and corridors.
• Maintains the cleanliness of all windows, glass, and doors in public areas.
• Checks guest elevators, cleans elevator floor, and polishes brass as necessary.
• Performs cleaning tasks in public areas, including vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, and collecting garbage.
• Assists guests and other staff members as needed.
• Follow all company safety and security policies & procedures; report any safety hazards, accidents, or injuries, and complete safety training and certifications.
• Assists with housekeeping and laundry as needed.
• Assists guests and employees in every way possible when called upon and assists with professionalism.
• All other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (INCLUDES EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE) : The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and / or ability required.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Must display very good organization and time management skills.
• Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with many types of personalities.
• Must have sound judgment and discretional skills and be able to work with little supervision.
• Must be able to consistently work under pressure and simultaneously prioritize multiple projects while maintaining strict attention to detail.
• Able to train others in a work setting.
• Must be able to work evenings as needed and may be required to work overtime.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

• Minimum 1 (one) year of experience directly related to the essential functions listed above.
• Previous hotel experience.
• Prior experience in a janitorial or housekeeping position.
